Smile Makeover —
Smile of the Month
January 2025
This patient was a familiar face at Smile Creations—Dr. Mohr had given her veneers over 25 years ago to help with some recession. Even the best-made dental work isn’t immune to time, so she came back to have her veneers redone so she could keep enjoying her bright, eye-catching smile.
While the thought of having to undergo the same dental procedure again doesn’t sound ideal, the truth is that most people have to update or replace their veneers after just 10-12 years. The fact that this patient’s restorations lasted for a quarter century is a testament to Dr. Mohr’s commitment to only using the best materials, labs, and methods.
It’s expected that veneers will eventually wear down. The porcelain, while stain-resistant, is not stain-proof and can discolor, as can the adhesive that attaches it to the enamel.
The material can also gradually wear down and crack, just like real enamel. Properly maintaining cosmetic dental work can ensure someone’s results last as long as possible, defying expectations just like this case. But, it’s important to work with an expert that not only has a keen eye for aesthetics, but is fully dedicated to quality as well. That’s how you end up with a beautiful smile that only needs to be touched up once every 20 years or so!
