Cosmetic Dentistry — Veneers & Porcelain Crown
Smile of the Month
December 2021
Jack has been happily married for 35+ years, has two adult children, and works at a job he enjoys. His situation sounds pretty nice, right? Everything was going smoothly until a sports injury (yes, a sports injury) resulted in a badly chipped front tooth.
While this was annoying in itself, Jack saw that the problem was having far-reaching effects. Almost daily, he saw noticeable changes in the contour of his face that accentuated his less than perfect teeth. Plus, during video calls with his clients, he was purposefully smiling less and less to hide his crooked, chipped, and discolored teeth.
After having the edges patched up by other dentists and being unsatisfied with the results, Jack decided to see Dr. Mohr to get a more permanent solution. There was just one problem: Jack was afraid of the dentist and extremely pain averse. This dental phobia was so great that when he got married, his new bride made him promise that he would go to the dentist after a 20-year absence (she, in turn, quit smoking).
Fortunately, when Jack found himself in Dr. Mohr’s office, all of his concerns were quickly put to rest. He found Dr. Mohr to be extremely patient despite his hesitance, and Jack never felt pressured to get treatment. He was happy to find out that Dr. Mohr could fix all of his issues at the same time, and after giving it some consideration, he decided to go through with the makeover.
Rather than simply applying bonding to the chipped area, Dr. Mohr gave Jack a porcelain crown and three veneers, which repaired the broken enamel, covered the stains, and made his teeth appear straighter and more uniform.
These days, Jack says that his friends and family often compliment him about his smile, and he feels confident when speaking to clients again. And, best of all, he says the entire experience was extremely comfortable:
“I’d seen Dr. Mohr’s work and didn’t really think I’d be a candidate. His patience with a hesitant patient (me) made all the difference in my decision to reclaim my smile.
What can I say? Every time I show my new pearly whites my friends and family offer unsolicited compliments. Be prepared though... the reactions are so strong it made me question a bit as to how poorly the old teeth looked.
PS – I am extremely pain adverse. When I got married thirty-five years ago my wife and I made a great pact. She stopped smoking and I went back to the dentist after a twenty-year absence. I was 'scared' of the dentist. Let me end this review by telling you that this was the most comfortable pain-free dental event of my life. Dr. Mohr is so skilled at ensuring that you are comfortable and calm during each stage of the process. Believe me, in many ways I’m a big chicken.
Thanks Dr. Mohr, and thanks to your entire team.”
